At SoMi Academy, we believe learning an instrument should be a joyful and enriching experience. Our group lessons offer children the opportunity to learn electric guitar, keyboard, bass, drums and vocals in a dynamic and supportive setting alongside their peers.
SoMi Academy, designed for children aged 4-11, is built upon Kodaly principles. It is proven to advance musicianship, enhance cognitive abilities, and develop teamwork skills. No prior experience is necessary, making music accessible to all children.
We know that a great music teacher inspires and enthuses. That’s why all of our SoMi Band Leaders are skilled musicians and educators who are passionate about inspiring a lifelong love for music and personal growth in every child.
Our curriculum is developed and delivered by music education experts, where skills are developed in performing, listening, composing and improvising. Children learn foundational skills in a variety of instruments and work towards their chosen instrument within their ensembles in Year 5 and Year 6.
Performing live builds confidence and provides a sense of achievement. Our programme includes regular concerts during school assemblies, allowing children to showcase their progress to an audience of friends, teachers, and family, boosting self-esteem and encouraging continuous learning.
We’re building an interactive, gamified learning app that makes practising at home fun, focused, and rewarding. From strumming your first chord to playing in time with your bandmates, the SoMi app helps pupils build skills independently with real-time feedback, a growing song library, and structured progression – all designed for children and trusted by schools.
